Cancer Treatment Options

Your cancer treatment plan will depend on a number of issues, including your specific cancer, its location, how aggressive it is, and your own personal preferences. Sometimes a combination of treatments will be necessary. There are several types of cancer treatment that serve different purposes.

  • Surgery: As part of your treatment plan, a surgeon will remove tumors or cancerous growths from your body. This is usually used in conjunction with other treatments to attempt to eradicate your cancer.
  • Chemotherapy: This type of treatment uses drugs to kill cancer cells. When used with other treatments, chemotherapy can shrink tumors and destroy cancer cells; in most cases, chemotherapy will be used alongside other treatments.
  • Radiation Therapy: During radiation therapy, high doses of targeted radiation are used to shrink tumors and kill cancer cells. When cancer cells have been damaged beyond repair by radiation, they stop dividing or die. Damaged cells are then broken down and removed by your body.
  • Hormone Therapy: Some types of cancers, such as prostate or breast cancers, use hormones to grow and spread. Hormone therapy can slow or stop the spread of these types of cancer.
Our physicians will help make recommendations for the type of treatment that you may need for your cancer. We will work with you to develop a top-notch treatment plan.
